The Mission of Giving

While we acknowledge that we can never out-give God, we know that our giving is foundational to His mission. Lives are touched and souls are saved through the ministries and missions of Acton Methodist, funded by the generosity of the faithful. Giving expands the heart of the giver and brings us closer to God.

“For if the willingness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what one does not have.” (2 Cor 8: 12)

Tithing

Tithing is a gift to God, through the church, at one tenth a household’s income. By giving our first back to God, we are reminded that he is the reason we have any of it to begin. Tithing helps us remember who the true provider is, allowing us to participate in the changing of lives. For God is generous, let us be faithful and generous in return.

in Luke, Jesus taught the Pharisees to practice Justice, the love of God, & the gift of one tenth to God. The New Testament teaches that this applies to us just as it did the Pharisees.

“Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
