We are all familiar with what is called “The Great Commission.” Matthew 28:19-20. After His resurrection and before He was to return to His Father, Jesus was meeting with His disciples and instructed them to “go and make disciples.” But have you ever considered that if you are a Christian, you are a disciple of Jesus just like Peter, James, John and the others that Jesus originally chose to be His disciples.
As disciples we are to be dedicated learners and followers of Jesus, deeply committed to imitating Jesus’ life, values, and teachings, not just acquiring knowledge but undergoing transformation to become like Jesus (To Be Christlike). As Jesus’ disciples we are to carry on His work to go make disciples (in Leading Generations to Be Like Christ).
The DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRY uses life groups to provide the way for our church to make disciples who make disciples in relational environments that reflect the life and method of Jesus. This is done by equipping every believer (disciple) to grow in Christ, live in community, and INTENTIONALLY disciple others toward spiritual maturity and multiplication (new believers).
